On June 12, Vanity Fair published an article about Alex Cooper, her husband Matt Kaplan and the culture at the Unwell Network, which produces Cooper's podcast Call Her Daddy

Vanity Fair claims to have spoken to over 40 sources, including current and former Unwell employees, for the piece, which comes on the heels of previous reports alleging toxicity in the workplace

The article includes allegations about Kaplan acting both aggressively and flirtatiously in the Unwell workplace

New allegations have surfaced about Alex Cooper, her husband Matt Kaplan and the workplace environment at her media company, the Unwell Network.

On Friday, June 12, Vanity Fairpublished an article titled "Daddy Issues: Trouble Behind the Scenes of Alex Cooper's Unwell Media Empire." The outlet claims to have spoken to over 40 sources — some of whom are current or former Unwell employees — in reporting the story about Cooper, 31, and Kaplan, 42, her husband of over two years.

In 2023, the couple merged their individual businesses, Kaplan's ACE Entertainment production company and Cooper's Unwell Network, to launch Trending, a cross-platform venture focused on Gen Z audiences.

In April, Bloomberg News published a bombshell report about Trending, alleging that Kaplan "frequently" yelled at staff members, citing "people familiar with the company's operations." A representative for Cooper did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment at the time of Bloomberg's report.

The Vanity Fair article includes quotes from unnamed sources with similar claims about the Hollywood producer. One person with experience working with Unwell as a freelancer told the outlet that Kaplan created "the most toxic work environment" the individual had ever seen.

PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for Cooper and Kaplan for comment.

The Vanity Fair piece claims sources also said that Kaplan used words like "stupid" or "retarded" to refer to employees and threatened to ruin their careers. One source reportedly said Cooper had, at times, witnessed her husband lose his temper and scream "the nastiest things" at people, but the Call Her Daddy host — who recently announced that she and Kaplan are expecting their first baby together — did not intervene to defend anyone involved.

In addition to the alleged displays of aggression, some women who spoke to Vanity Fair claim that Kaplan asked about their sex lives and commented on their physical appearances. The article noted that some sources said they were not made to feel uncomfortable by Kaplan, but other sources reportedly claimed there were moments when he would place a hand that "lingered" on their thighs or the backs of their necks.

A source tells PEOPLE that the story did not "include any mention of how many people spoke positively" about the Unwell Network, Kaplan and Cooper during interviews for the newly published piece.

The article also claims that while the reporter was drafting the piece, Vanity Fair received a letter from an attorney representing Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and the Unwell Network. The note allegedly included a threat that read, per the published article, "If the Story so much as suggests any sexual impropriety on Mr. Kaplan's part, I will make it my life's mission to ensure Vanity Fair's days are numbered."
