Amy Poehler is revealing the unique reason why it's fun to be pregnant while working on Saturday Night Live.

The actress and comedian shared that "pregnancy is wild and funny and fun because you are a completely different body."

She added, "And you scare a lot of people by walking around."

Amy Poehler is sharing the unexpected reason why it's actually kind of fun to work onSaturday Night Live while pregnant.

During a recent episode of her Good Hang podcast, the actress and comedian explained to current SNL cast member Sarah Sherman that it's especially fun to freak people out while pregnant.

"I don't understand how anyone can do anything while SNL is happening," Sherman began. "I even said to you, because you did 'Work Birth,' the sketch when you hosted about you being pregnant and giving birth at work, and I was like, 'Okay, so this actually was your life.'"

Poehler was heavily pregnant during season 34 of Saturday Night Live. She famously went into labor just before showtime on its Oct. 25, 2008 episode and later gave birth to her and ex-husband Will Arnett's eldest son, Archie.

And, honestly, Sherman was very impressed by Poehler's work ethic. "The fact that you were pregnant there, I can't even work there if my contact is too dry," she remarked.

But Poehler explained she managed to find the humor in pregnancy — and why Sherman might enjoy it, too.

"I don't know what your life is and if you ever want to carry a child, but pregnancy is wild and funny and fun because you are a completely different body and you love body stuff," she said. "And you scare a lot of people by walking around."

Sherman acknowledged that pregnancy scares her, too. "I'm like, what do you mean they're moving my organs around inside of me?" she remarked. "They have to stay where they are."

Poehler agreed that carrying a child is "so sci-fi," adding, "That there's a body inside of you. You're never alone."

"I can't even imagine, like my body can't even take being at the job regular," Sherman said. "Not that pregnant isn't regular! New normal. I respect women. Hey, watch it."

She continued, "But like if I have like a bad burrito and I'm like bloated, I'm like, I can't write."

After giving birth to Archie, Poehler returned for two more episodes of Saturday Night Live before announcing on the Dec. 13 broadcast that it would be her last. She has since returned to the program for numerous sketches over the years, and has hosted three times.

Poehler and Arnett, who married in 2003, would go on to welcome a second child, son Abel, in 2010. The couple eventually went their separate ways in 2012, and finalized their divorce in 2016.
