As *Harry Potter *actor Daniel Radcliffe joined* The View* Thursday for an interview about his role in the new NBC comedy *The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins*, the superstar cringed when the show cued up a clip of one of his early auditions to play the boy wizard.**
"Soon, [your son is] going to realize that his dad is Harry Potter, because it's been 25 years since you starred in the first *Harry Potter* movie," cohost Sunny Hostin said, after the actor discussed his recent reveal that his child isn't aware that his father led eight* Harry Potter* films in the titular role.

"You were 11 years old when you auditioned for the role. Of course, this is *The View*, so we have a clip," Hostin continued. The program then shifted to a split-screen display to show Radcliffe as he watched his audition.
Throughout the footage, Radcliffe could be seen mouthing "it's bad," shaking his head, and ultimately leaning to the side as he cringed.
Still, the audience applauded when the clip ended, with Hostin praising, "That is so good!"
"I disagree, but thank you very much," Radcliffe replied. "Now I can look at that and be like, it's cute."

EGOT-winning actress and *The View* moderator Whoopi Goldberg then reminded him of his own talent as she praised his performance as well.
"You evolved it. You went from that, which, in spite of what you think, it's really good, which is why you got the gig. But you've evolved, and that's the beautiful thing," Goldberg said.
Panelist Joy Behar turned toward Radcliffe to ask how he'd feel if, after being a child star himself, his 2-year-old son (whom he shares with actress Erin Darke) wanted to be an actor.

"I would rather he isn't. Me and Erin are both actors, so he'll see us being passionate and loving our jobs," Radcliffe responded. "I feel like a lot of actors, so much of how we feel about ourselves is tied into our work. I'd love for him to get a job where his sense of identity and self-worth is not as tied to that."
Despite his comments about acting as a child, Radcliffe found massive global success as he fronted eight *Harry Potter* blockbusters from 2001-11.**
*The View* airs weekdays on ABC.
