Dwight Freeney discusses the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 2 opponent

This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with Pro Football Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Freeney, who participated in this year's American Century Championship, held at Edgewood Tahoe and aired on NBC and Peacock, discussed the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 2 opponent, the Indianapolis Colts.

"I think they've got to be optimistic, man. I think that their offense with Daniel (Jones), if Daniel is like Daniel was last year," said Freeney, "they are going to be a serious force to be reckoned with, because you have Jonathan Taylor and you have him, and then you have the receiving core. The tight ends are getting better; I think they're going to be a force to be reckoned with offensively."

The Colts were hampered by injuries after a hot start last season; they missed the playoffs with an 8-9 record. One of their losses last season was in Week 12 against the Chiefs in overtime.

"Defensively, I think having Sauce Gardner there for another year, getting more comfortable with the system we have—new coordinator from Cincinnati, (Lou Anarumo) great guy. I played against him for years when we were at Indianapolis," said Freeney. "So, I understand he is a guy that can keep everything in front of you defensively. He does a great job; he's really good at making adjustments after halftime. Things are looking up for the Colts, and I think that they have to get that bad taste out of their mouth from last year and get some wins in the beginning, and I think they'll be fine."

The annual tournament awarded $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities.
