Fatal Influence is still on top of the WWE women’s tag team division after Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid successfully defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team title against Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton on the August 7 episode of SmackDown.

The match was set up earlier in the night when Fatal Influence interrupted Green’s championship celebration.

Green had just won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship and was celebrating in the ring. She thanked the WWE Universe for supporting her and also took a moment to praise herself for becoming champion.

She then turned her attention to her “best friend,” Tiffany Stratton. Stratton soon came down to the ring. Green wanted to move past the fact that she shoved the ladder at SummerSlam when Stratton was climbing on it to grab the title.

Green said she believed their friendship was stronger than what had happened and invited Stratton to join her for a toast to celebrate female friendship.

Before they could celebrate, though, Fatal Influence came out. Jacy Jayne mocked the celebration and blamed Stratton for keeping her out of the ladder match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship.

Jayne then turned her attention to Stratton and said she wanted to take away her Women’s United States title and leave her without any titles.

However, instead of waiting for another confrontation, Stratton offered to defend the Women’s United States Championship the following week. But in return, she wanted Fatal Influence to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against herself and Green on SmackDown.

Fatal Influence discussed the idea for a moment and accepted the challenge.

The tag team title match took place, and Green and Reid started things off.

Green and Stratton worked well together early in the match. They used quick tags and double-team moves to keep the champions under pressure.

Stratton later hit Henley with a handspring Stunner before Reid tried to stop her. The champions were knocked outside, allowing Green and Stratton to hit matching dives onto their opponents.

Fatal Influence eventually found a way back into the match. Stratton started building momentum again with a cartwheel Alabama Slam and a top-rope senton. Henley stopped her from following up.

Green later hit Reid with a military press slam before going after Henley. She looked ready to take over, but Jayne suddenly got involved from the outside. Jayne pulled Stratton off the apron and that distraction changed everything.

With Stratton down, Green was left alone against both champions. Fatal Influence took advantage and hit Green with their finishing move, Fatal Flaw.

The move was enough to score the three-count. Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid retained the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

However, Lash Legend and Nia Jax suddenly rushed to the ring and attacked both Green and Stratton. Jax then picked up the Interim WWE Women’s Championship and stood over Green.
