Meghan Markle's career has been criticized by culinary icon Martha Stewart.

Stewart, whom Meghan has previously been accused of copying, suggested the transition from actress to royal to "homemaking guru" must be challenging.

The 85-year-old's remarks follow a recent dinner party in California, where both women were in attendance. The culinary legend shared her candid thoughts on Meghan venturing into a similar field with her cooking series With Love, Meghan. The program had two seasons air last year, along with a holiday special. A third season has not been commissioned as of yet.

Stewart told People, "I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace.

"I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it."

When questioned about Meghan's culinary program, Stewart remarked, "If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show."

This isn't the first time the culinary icon has been questioned about Meghan. Last year, during an interview with Access Hollywood, Stewart was asked whether she had watched the Duchess of Sussex's cooking program.

At the time, she stated that she "hadn't watched it yet." She said, "I'll watch an episode and see how she does. I'm curious."

When questioned by Yahoo Australia about her potential influence on Meghan Markle's career trajectory, she appeared unfazed by the prospect.

This is thought to relate to Meghan's move into the lifestyle and culinary sector.

Stewart commented, "Meghan, I don't really know very well, and I hope she knows what she's talking about.

"Authenticity to me is everything. And to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important."
