Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have changed schools in the U.K.—just two days into the new school year.
“The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” their spokesperson said.
Their spokesperson added, “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
Weeks after Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children returned to the U.K. on August 26, the family has already undergone a major change.

On September 14, news broke that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have changed schools—just two days into the new school year.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke with People about the decision, citing security concerns.
“The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson continued, “The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family. This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
A purported “friend” of Harry and Meghan shared their thoughts on the news with Hello! Magazine.

“It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents,” the source said. “It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there. They really wanted to make it work, but they had to make a difficult decision based on the fact that the team couldn’t make the school run operationally secure.”

The outlet further reported that Harry and Meghan’s bodyguards checked out the school over the summer, but couldn’t properly assess the grounds until the first day of classes. Archie and Lilibet will reportedly attend a new school “in the area” after visiting on Monday.
Harry and Meghan’s return to the U.K. has not been easy.
Just last week, on September 8, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of the Ugandan president and the country’s Chief of Defence Forces, said that Uganda would no longer participate in Harry’s Invictus Games.
In a post shared on X, he wrote, “In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the invictus games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval.”
