A royal source said the heir thinks they should be “kept at arm’s length,” adding fresh heat to the talk around ex-Prince Andrew’s daughters. As per a new outlet report, William is taking a “hard line” on Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, while Kate Middleton’s relationship with her sisters-in-law is “chillier.”
For context, after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was told to leave Royal Lodge and relocated to Wood Farm, reports said he was arrested on his birthday on suspicion of misconduct. William later said he was not in “a calm state” while attending the BAFTAs. Experts further speculated that he may rethink Beatrice and Eugenie’s roles, citing older rifts and Zara-Mike support.

A Daily Mail report stated Prince William has “shifted his position” in recent weeks. The royal insider claimed he is “particularly annoyed” by projects in the Middle East and that those moves “could impact on relations with the UK royals.” The report also noted he had just returned from Saudi Arabia and is working to promote relations between London and Riyadh. The individual added that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie “going off piste with their own projects could muddy the waters.”

Meanwhile, the report said the Prince of Wales is focused on risk control, and he worries about a lack of “discretion.” The source also warned it could “backfire on the monarchy.” One example was a reported tea party hosted by Beatrice in Saudi Arabia last November. The insider claimed the timing angered William, and the episode showed “total lack of self-awareness.” Separately, the report said the sisters declined an “ethics” check on investments.
However, the report suggested that bridges have not held. A family source said, “The girls have tried to build some bridges,” but William has not “reciprocate[d]” as hoped. The source said the cousins met mainly at two Christmas lunches in December. Both were described as “strained affairs.” The source added, “William and Kate were apparently polite but stand-offish” on both occasions.
The insider further said Eugenie prefers a low profile, spending time in Portugal. Still, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail, “William will undoubtedly be planning the future.” He added that the prince is unlikely to include Beatrice and Eugenie “in any official capacity.”
