There’s nothing holding Shawn Mendesback from expressing his love.

Indeed, the 27-year-old hard launched his relationship with Bruna Marquezine, celebrating the Gente Inocente actress’ 31st birthday in a sweet post.

“Feliz aniversário my baby,” Mendes wrote on Instagram Aug. 4. “You are a light and a mãe in every room you walk into. Not to be tooooo sappy but you’ve truly changed my life and I am so so grateful for you. Eu te amo muito muito muitoo!!! We all do amor…”

The “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” actor shared pictures and videos of Marquezine volunteering with kids at Casa Amarela Providência, a cultural center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And Mendes didn’t stop there, as he shared more pics of himself with the Blue Beetle star on his Instagram Story.

The couple have been keeping their relationship relatively low-key since they were first linked while on vacation in Brazil last December. Shortly after the new year began, Mendes and Marquezine were snapped engaging in light PDA while grocery shopping in Los Angeles.

Although the “Stitches” singer—who previously dated Camila Cabello and was linked to Sabrina Carpenter—likes to keep the details of his relationships under wraps, he isn’t afraid to be more forthright in his songs.

In fact, he got candid about a pregnancy scare he experienced with an unnamed partner in the song “Why Why Why” from his 2024 album Shawn, singing “I thought I was about to be a father / Shook me to the core, I'm still a kid / Sometimes I still cry out for my mother.”

After releasing the song, Mendes gave insight into why he shared this story in his music, admitting that he had doubts about getting so personal.

“I wanted to break down any walls that were remaining,” he told the New York Times in October 2024, “between me and people listening.”
