Taylor Frankie Paul is stepping away from Mormonism amid upheaval in her personal life.
The *Secret Lives of Mormon Wives* star shared her decision to distance herself from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Easter Sunday, writing via Instagram Stories that she wants to "detach" herself from the religion.
"Born and raised Mormon (lds) and I'll always have love and respect towards it. I'll even continue to go [to church] with my family at times, with that being said, it's time to detach myself from it," she shared alongside a bandaged heart emoji.
She continued, "I strongly believe in Christ, God, the bible, the divine. I believe we are loved whether we are praying in [a] church building or from a bathroom floor at home. I've also experienced grace and love from amazing people that aren't sure what they believe if at all and that's okay too. Point being there is more out there to learn. And I'm writing this out as a release."
Paul went on to share an Easter coloring sheet by her kids and a snapshot of her Spotify playlist, which included the song "Hanging on Hope" by Buffalo Traffic Jam. "On replay lately," she shared.

Paul has experienced a tumultuous start to 2026. Her planned season of *The Bachelorette* was canceled by ABC last month amid the release of a video of her 2023 altercation with her ex Dakota Mortensen. In the clip, Paul can be seen throwing a chair at Mortensen while the daughter she shares with ex-husband Tate Paul was present.

"It's sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child," Paul's rep told *** *in a statement about the 2023 footage, which she insinuated was released by Mortensen. (Paul and Mortensen share a 2-year-old son.) "Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son's birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences."
Paul was arrested in connection with the incident and, in August, pleaded guilty in abeyance to an aggravated assault charge. She had also been charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, but those charges were dismissed.
The video's release came as new allegations of domestic assault between Paul and Mortensen were being investigated. The Draper City Police Department confirmed on March 16 that it was investigating Paul for alleged domestic disputes that occurred Feb. 24 and 25. Allegations had "been made in both directions," they told PEOPLE.
In the wake of the controversy, *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives* also halted filming on season 5.

Paul's *Mormon Wives* co-star Jessi Draper spoke about the scandal on *Call Her Daddy* last month, telling host Alex Cooper that the mother of three "has made a lot of changes" in her life so it makes it "hard" for her to watch the media scrutiny.
"This is my real friend and she does have a really good heart and I love her so much," Draper shared, tearing up. "Seeing that video is like so hard because it's just, there's so much pain underneath the surface for Taylor and I tell her this all the time, that it's not who Taylor is. She got caught in a really bad cycle and just seeing that video and yes, the child being involved is awful and everyone involved like is really hard. But Taylor's such a good person and she's made some mistakes and so has Dakota."
