‘The View’ Boss Dismisses Rosie O’Donnell Season 30 Return Claims

Rosie O’Donnell got fans excited earlier this week when she revealed she’d be returning as a guest for The View‘s 30th season, but the former host may have jumped the gun.
According to the show’s executive producer, Brian Teta, O’Donnell hasn’t been formally invited back to The View as plans are still in the works. “We love seeing all the excitement about The View’s 30th,” Teta wrote on X on Tuesday night (August 4). “Lots of plans are in the works, but no invites have gone out.”
O’Donnell made the announcement on the latest episode of The Tangle podcast, stating, “I will go on the 30th anniversary next [season], and be on in whatever way they want me,” noting she will return “just as a guest.”
She also added, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think, for the 30th season.”
The multi-time Daytime Emmy winner co-hosted The View for two brief stints in 2006-2007 and 2014-2015. O’Donnell first exited the show after a tense on-air clash with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She returned in 2014 but again often found herself clashing with her co-hosts, particularly longtime host Whoopi Goldberg.

Speaking on her clashes with Goldberg, O’Donnell said, “I wanted to be on her team. I admire her EGOT status. I have respect for her. And I thought we’d be like Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, passing the ball back and forth, and shooting, and leading the team to victory. But that’s not exactly what happened.”
The View is currently hosted by Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. Last season, the show invited guest hosts to fill in for Farah Griffin while she was on maternity leave, including former hosts Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman.
In the meantime, O’Donnell will be guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! later this month, marking her first foray into hosting late night. Kimmel is currently on a two-month summer break from his talk show and has tapped celebs to fill in, including Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, and more.
